We are in possession of our files of Victorian papers to the 28th November. The following commercial article is from the Argus of that date: — In the import markets generally a quiet day has been passed. Prices of mcst descriptions of staple goods, however, are well sustained. Breadstuffs are firm at yesterday's quotations. Sales of best Adelaide town brands of flour have been made at £14 for trade parcels, and countryznade flour has been disposed of at £12 15s. Sales of Chilian wheat have transpired at 4s 10d., though not in quantity. We hear of larger transactions pending. Californian wheat has been disposed of at 5s 9d to 5s 10. The Warrior's cargo is to be held for a better market, and the entire cargo in the meantime goes into store. A parcel of 6,000 bushels of barley has been placed on private terms ; for trade parcels we quote 3s 3d. Sound maize is very firm at 4s 6d ; a large parcel was disposed of at auction, but being very faulty the price realised cannot be taken as a criterion of the market. A shipment of coarse and fine salt, amounting to 300 tons, has met with a purchaser in a line on terms withheld. Candles are wanted; at auction, some 500 boxes were disposed of at lOfd., and sales privately have been made at a similar figure. Machen's stout has been placed at 9s 6d. Byass's is inquired for, and parcels have been placed afc 8s I\d. Sales of Sauc-el whiskey in case have been made at 8s 6d. Ihere is more inquiry for cornsacks, though transactions are not heavy ; several parcels have been placed at 13s 6d. A shipment of seventy pockets of 1865 hops, of fair quality, has changed hands at a price sustaining the trade rate of la 8d to ls 9d, required for smaller quantities. A considerable parcel ot muscatel raisins has been disposed of; the greater portion of the stock in the market has now become well centred, and holders refuse to quit under 7£d. A large demand continues to be experienced for hams and bacon ; over 200 cases, chiefly the former, have been placed in parcels at prices ranginer to 13£ d. A small shipment of plantation coffee — about five tons — was places at current rates, say 9£d. Teas are in moderate request, Trade orders have been executed at 2s Id to 2s 5d for fine congous, duty paid. Sugars are quiet, pending the sale of 6,000 bags of the Cooreng's cargo, advertised for to-morrow. We note sales of medium to fine counters at £32 12s 6d to £33 15s, and of white crystals at £39 2s 6d.
