The correspondence about the rinderpest, among other letters to the daily papers, has brought out the following: — " Sir,— lf any one wants to see a cow cured of the plagne, ' please refer them ! to me.' " It is wonderfully assuming that I a farmer should liken him self unto a cow cured of the plague, and invite people io look at him. To a lady who once complained of the insolence of some English coal-heavers, their employer replied by a humble apology on his own account ; adding : — " But, madam, to tell you the truth, we have failed in our efforts to get gentlemen ; to undertake the business." !
