The following is from tho Launceston Examiner of tho 17th inst. : — " Increased firmness has been given to the flour and wheat market by the news to hand by the s.s. Black Swan. In wheat, too, there has been today a speculative inquiry, on account of tenders called for by the Government for the supply of 5,000 bushels, and 10s. have been offered ; but we ara not aware of any actual transactions at that figure. Cornsacks are on the advance, and are held at Adelaide at 213. Here it is said that nearly that amount ha 3 been offered, and refused, holders preferring not to quit just now." The Hobart Town Mercury of the 17th says : — " The markets are unaffected by the news received from Melbourne, and there'is little to report. Transactions are limited, and prices without change, as under : — Flour, £26 per ton ; wheat, lls. 6d. to 12s. per bushel : bran, Is. 6d. per bushel ; sharps, £12 per ton ; oats, 3s. 6d. to 43. per bushel ; barley, 53. sd. to 6a. per bushel ; hay. £5 to £6 per ton, according to quality ; potatoes, £4 10s. to £5 per ton, without bags ; onion 3, £9 10s. to £11 per ton, according to quality ; butter is in good demand, at from lOd. 10£ d. per lb.
