LATEST AUSTRALIAN TELEGRAMS.
(From the Argus.) Sydney, Aug. 23. His Excellency the Governor intends reviewing the Volunteers on Saturday, 4th, the anniversary of the formation of the Volunteer force. The Young telegram saya that a collision has oc cured between Europeans and Chinese. The former attacked and atj tempted to drive the Chinese from the Spring Creek diggings. The Chinese resisted the attack, and ten were severely wounded. The police restored order, but further riots are feared. The Government have announced the intention to call for tenders immediately for a direct line of telegraph to Adelaide, running ""' down the Murray River, via Moulamein, Balranald, Eußton, and "Wentworth, Young, Soutli Australian line, and the frontier on the Darling River. Adelaide, Aug. 23. There is a good inquiry for wheat, at 7s. 6d., delivered - Holders decline to sell. Eiour is nominal — £18 to £19. Public feeling is greatly in favor of the mail-steamers calling at Kangaroo Island, instead of King George's Sound.
