(From (he Englishman, Jan. 9.) The EitofNTiEK Wail — The Avar on the frontier is not so completely settled as the Punjabees Avould have us believe. The following, from the Lahore Chronicle of the 30th ult., confirms our doubts, and the neAV tribes Avho have to be coerced may give a great deal of trouble yet. They may eA'en add another million to mourn over as lost to our surplus : — • " A brigade composed of Peshawur Mountain Train, Hazara Mountain Train, Her Majesty's 101 st Eusileers, Corps of G-uides, 3rd Sikh Infantry, sth Groorkhas, Avith two companies of Sappers and Miners, under the command of Lieut. -Colonel Wilde, C.8., marched on the 28th inst. from Nawakilla to Muneri. The brigade is intended to enforce Major James's demand on the Judoon and OtAvanzai tribes, from Avhom it remains to exact such rigid engagements as will effectually deter them henceforth from aiding our enemies across the border. Major-G-eneral (xarvock has left NaAvakilla for PeshaAvur. The gathering of Momunds in the neighborhood of Michnee has not altogether dispersed, but the most stringent orders have been- sent by special messages to Saadat Khan, of Lalpoor, to prevent any molestation of the British border ; and Aye expect to hear no more of demonstrations in that quarter."
