Masters of rpsseh and othora navigating the Hokianga R, ver are hereby informed that on, and after the lit day <;f March proximo, the following "will bo the Code of Signals for taking Hokianea bar and entering the river: BlGSAta.— From the Signal-staff on the South He.vl the follower Signals will be made :— No. 1. B'.ue Peter— "Keop to Sea ; Bar is not fit to take. No. 2. Rxl Flag— Take the Bar; there is no danger. No. 3. Blue With White Cross— Ebb Tide • Bar not fit. ' No. 4. White— First Quarter Flood. —When these fla^g a;-e understood, they should be nnswored from the ship by a pendant or flag where bfl.<=t Been. The pilot will bo at the entrance of the Heads in his boat, but seldom outside the B vr. 2. If a vessel is to far to the North for enteric a White Square will be hoisted on the south yardarm ; and if to for to the South, it will be hoisted on the north yard-arm. Vessels to be particularly puided by the hoisting of the White Square at the yard-arms and that direction. No vessel should take the Bar until the fl^Rtaff hears E f N.
