The National Mortgage and Agency Co report having held their fortnightly stock sale at Wallacetown yards on Tuesday, when a full entry of all classes of stock was forward : Fat cattle —52 head yarded. The demand was not very keen, but nearly all wore sold at as follows :—Extra heavy bullocks, LIOs 17s 6d to Lll 10s ; good do, L 8 5s to L 9 10s ; ordinary, L 6 10s to L 7 10s ; light and inferior, L 4 10s to L 5 10s ; good cows up to L 8 5s ; ordinary, L 5 to L 6. Fat sheep—l24s entered, but the demand was very irregular, some lots selling well, while others were quite neglected. Extra heavy weights brought up to 18a ; prime do, 14s to 16s ; ordinary do ; 12s 6d to 13s 6d. Store sheep—ls6o entered. Market pretty good, any nice lots of hoggets selling fully up to 10s 3d for best, good do, 8s 6d to 9s 6d ; small, 7s to 8s; forward wethers, 10s to 11s; small do, 7s 6d to 8s 6d. Store cattle—lsl entered, comprising alarge number of dairy cows, for which the demand was good, at up to, L 7 for best; ordinary, L 5 to L 6 The demand is verykeen for this class, and the supply of really good cows was very limited. In other classes the demand was good, although a alrge number were turned out unsold, not coming up to owners’ ideas. Best three and four-year old bullocks brought up to L 6 9s ; two-year olds, L 3 11s ; yearlings to 40s. Skin and Fat Sale—There is a good demand for everything coming forward at prices about the same as lately ruling. Mataura Sale, Thursday, 13th inste—Owing to counter attractions this sale was not up to the usual, but a fair demand existed for all entries, best fat wethers selling at 12s 6d; half fat do to 10s; medium hoggets to 8s 7d, Fat cows to L 6, dairy do to L 7 2s 6d, mixed do to L 4, yearlings and calves 25s to 4Ue. The clearing sale at Mr P. Ferguson’s went off very well, the whole line averaging L 8 each, some bringing as high as LlO and LlO 15s each ; yearlings brought 36s to 445, and several other lots of cows L 6 to L 7 5s each. During the past few weeks there has been a very strong demand for good hoggets, store bullocks, and dairy cows. We have placed several big lines of hoggets at up to 10s each, store bullocks at L 4 7s 6d to L 5 10s and dairy cows at L 6 to L 7.
