DUNEDIN MARKETS.
The markets are thus reported on for the week ended 19th September:— Fat Cattle. —A moderate supply in, 141 being penned, among which were »ome prim* p en s, mostly from Central Otago. Some of the principal buyers were supplied outside, but*this did not affect sale, which must be considered satisfactory to vendors. The best quality in were the Gladbrook heifers, and these elicited brisk bidding. Bullocks sold at £7 10 s to £l2 10s-; cows and heifers £6 to £9 2s 6d. ]? a t Sheep.—An average supply was penned consisting of 500 medium to prime merino wethers and 1781 crossbreds from stores to extra heavy and prime. Best quality was in good request, and some good prices were paid. One consignment of very superior halfbred wethers (big weights) brought the highest price of this season, 19s 9d. Best merino wethers (as indeed all useful sorts) brought slightly advanced rates. Best crossbred wethers brought 13s to 15s 6d; extra do (very heavy), 16s 6d to 19s 9d ; inferior to medium wethen, 9s 6d to 12s 9d; crossbred ewes, 9s to 14s ; best merinojiwethers 10s 6d to 12s 6d; inferior do, 6s 6d to 8s 6d.
