While a 5-year-old boy named Smyth, son of a Wagga settler, was playing in a yard at the rear of his home, a rooster flew at him, striking the child in the eye with its spur. After an examination by medical men it was decided to extract the eye. This operation was successfully performed, and the lad is doing well.
