A. A. Mac Gibbon on behalf of the N.M. and A. Co. reports on the Invercargill markets as follows: — Fat Cattle.—The trade being partially supplied from outside sources, the demand at the Invercargill sale on the 3rd inst. was much more limited than usual, resulting in several pens being turned out unsold. Best bullocks sold at up to Ll2 7s 6d at the beginning of the sale, but towards the end there was a drop of fully 20s per head, and even then buyers did not care to purchase. Good bullocks brought L 9 to Lll; lighter, L 6 to L 8; cows, for prime heavy, up to Lll ; others, up to L 5, according to quality. Store cattle were rather dull, except for dairy cows, which were in demand. Fat Sheep.—The entry was small, but prices were pretty good, although the demand was not great. Best wethers brought 17s to 18s ; others, 14s to 15s. Store Sheep.—Market very dull. A large number of hoggets were passed at auction. Wairio Sale, Wednesday, 4th.—About 400 sheep entered, and very few people present, monthly sales evidently being beyond requirements. Best hoggets brought 13s 4d; ewes and lambs, I4s 6d. Winton Sale, Thursday, sth. A large entry of sheep, consisting mostly of hoggets, for which the demand was wonderfully improved, every line being sold at fair values. Hoggets realised 8s 6d, 9s, 1' s, lls, 12s, and 12s lOd each, the la tter price for a line of very superior well-woolled sheep. Fat wethers brought 16s to 18 s for heavy weights, and 13s to 14s for medium ; ewes and lambs (culls), 8s 6d, Cattle. —A few very nice quality light fat bullocks brought L 8 each; fat cows, L66s to L 7 17s 6d; yearlings, 40s. Skin and Fat Sale. —Brices still continue good for all coming to hand. All consignments receive our prompt attention.

The Farmers’ Alliance and Supply Co, of New Zealand, Ltd;, report as follows:

Sheepskins.—An excellent demand exists for all -classes, and we can recommend farmers and butchsrs to send their consignments in. At our sale on Monday we sold ordinary crossbreds at s. id per lb, while poor sorts brought 4d to 3d per lb. Butchers’ skins we quote at 4s 6d to 5s 3d each for good all round lots.

Fat sold at 12s for poor to 14s 9d for good. Tallow, we quote from 18s to 19s for good. Eabbitskins. — Only small quantities are coming forward, which meet with spirited competition, and prices rule from lid to 14d for best late killed; others, 6d to 9d per lb.
