OTAUTAU.
We have step forward. The Western District Agricultural and Pastoral Association was shown the advisability of bolding the exhibition in a more central position than Riverton, and it was unanimously decided to have the next one at Otautau on the 6th December—it being the most central. The Wallace County election is now diawing near, and the electors would be wise to return members who will advocate the removing of the Council chambers to Otautau, which would save the County, I understand, something like £SO a year in travelling expenses of members, let alone the working of the County by the engineer if stationed at Otautau, as compared with Riverton, which is at the southern extremity of the County. The three sawmills within six miles of Otautau are now in full suing. The annual school concert is to take place next month. The Otautau hotel is again about to fall into the hands of that veteran, Mr John Smith. Mr Railton, railway ganger, has been making a raid upon the cattle trespassing on the line, and it is expected that there will be a lively time next court day.
