BLUFF.

The barque Mandalay, under charter to the J. G. Ward Farmers’ Association, finished loading and sailed for London a full ship on the 14th inst. She will be followed on the berth by the ship Indian Empire, now due, and also under charter to the same firm. The A warua Football Club scored their first Avin this season last Saturday, defeating Winton by sca'cii points to four. OAving to the sloppy nature of the ground, the game Avas not a scientific one, and consisted chiefly of forward play. The Bluff and Winton have uoav played three matches, the former club proving their superiority on two occasions. During the latter part of the game last Saturday, one of the Bluff fonvards named C. Rowley met witli a nasty accident, coming into contact with an opposing player, and displacing his knee-cap. He is in the hospital, and doing fairly well. The foundation stone of the presbyterian church Avas laid on Wednesday in the presence of a large number of people, the Hon. J. G. Ward performing the ceremony. A concert Avas given in the evening which Avas also Avell attended, and proved one of the most successful entertainments ever held in the Bluff. At the last meeting of the Bluff Harbour Board, Mr Waterston Avithdrcw his motion to the effect that the Board’s officers should receive an increase of 10 per cent in salary all round. The Board Avill in future meet on Thursdays instead of Tuesdays,
