AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.

The N. M. and A. Co. report:—Business during the past week has been much quieter, the large sales for the season being now over, which will doubtless have the effect of hardening prices, as buyers will not be so readily frightened when the entries are small. The demand forgoodywethers still continues; buyers, however, are very cautious, so sellers need not expect big prices, although a good business can be done at fair rates. Breeding ewes are inquired for, but are difficult to procure. Lambs are in slightly better request, but buyers for this class are particularly careful, and evidently mean to have a handsome profit, judging from the majority of' sales made. The entry of sheep at Invercargill yards was about an average one, and the demand was if anything better than recently ruling, heavy weight ewes sold up to Iss; others, 11s to 13s 6d ; wethers, 13s to 14s 6d; light, 10s to 12s. Store sheep were in demand, ssles being made at 10s to 11s for small wethers, bettersorts 11s 6d to 13s, lambs from 7s to 9s, merino wethers, 4s to ss. Fat cattle are in brisk demand, all forward selling at prices in advance of late rates, prime cows bringing up to £9, good to £7, lighter £5 to £6. Best bullocks to £8 17s 6d, others £6 10s to £B. Very few store cattle entered. At the Wairio sale on Wednesday, 17th inst., about 2500 sheep were yarded, and met a good market, forward conditioned wethers selling up to 13s Bd, smaller 10s to 12s, and xbred ewes 8s to 10s, lambs up to 10s 2d for best, small do to 6s 9d, merino ewes to 4s Id, merino wethers to 6s, cull sheep Is 6d to 3s.
