PRIZE-GIVING AT MAKERUA SCHOOL.

The annual prize-giving at the Makerua School took place on Friday, in' the presence of a good attendance of parents and friends. The prizes were presented by Mr Anderson, chairman Oi. the School Committee, who spoke in appreciative terms of the work of the school, and urged the children to make the most of their opportunities. The Rev. Mr Williamson, who hss conducted a Bible Class at the School for a number of years, briefly addressed the children stating that it had given him the greatest pleasure to help m this way. ,■•.-, The headmaster, Mr Taylor, thanked the chairman and School Committee for their interest and help during the past vear and the Rev. Mr Williamson for the deep interest he had taken in the pupils, and the invaluable work he is carrying on. He also referred in the highest terms to the manner i i which Miss Wood had carried out her duties as sewing mistress, and thanks were also due to Mrs Nicol for kindly judging the sewing.
