PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE.
STATEMENT FOR AUGUST. The-following particulars of the loan transactions and thd new business reported during the month ended 31st August, 1929, have been supplied by the Eight Hon. the Prime Minister. The loans completed during the mouth amounted to £427 251, making a total of £2,034,090 completed since the Ist April last. Further new loans were grauted to the amount of £287,125, making the total loans granted, but not yet" paid, £581,030, while offers of loans less than the full amounts applied for amount to £77,344, -a total of £588,374. Renewals of 38 loans amounting to £177,458 were also authorised. Applications for additional new loans amounting to £442,939 are .now under consideration.
Estates of a value of £622,081 were reported and. accepted for administration during the month. On 31st March last the total value of the estates under administration was £48,334,790, arid the new business for the fiv-; months ended 31st August, 1929, was £3,771,951, which is £797,448 in excess of the figure of the same period for the previous year. Grants of administration made by the Court in favour of the Public Trustee numbered 197 for the month.
During-the .month G3l new wills appointing the Public Trustee executor were deposited for safe custody with the Public Trustee by living testators, and the total nuir.ber now held in tho Public Trust Office is 65,191, representing an estimated present value of over £260,000,000.
