WEEKLY EUCHRE TOURNEY.
GROSS PROCEEDS IN, AID OF EARTHQUAKE FUND. For this coming Thursday evening the Shannon branch' of the New Zealand Labour Party have very thoughtfully decided to band over the whole of the gross proceeds from their euchre tourney towards assisting thos; who have suffered by the earthquake. As a very large attendance is anticipated Mr Hyde has very kindly .granted the committee the free use of the Maorilaud Theatre for that evening. The tourney is to be conducted on the same lines as usual, and players will be able to qualify to play off for the gold watch and the points prize for lady and gent who score most points for three nighfe, Avhieh started last Thursday will count, while, there will be the usual number of prizes, all of which have been donated by local, business people. For those who do not wish to play euchre, tables will be set apart for other games. At the conclusion of the play an excellent supper will be served,' which the Party are providing for out of their own funds. Every shilling taken at th? door can thus be handed over to the fund. ' The Party are the first to make a move locally to assist and it is hoped that the public will show (heir j-ppveciation of the Party's kindly action in foregoing their profits that night, bv turning out in full force, to assist one .of the most deserving causes that has ever a riser* in this Dominion.
