FOXTON-SHANNON ROAD.
HIGHWAY BOARD REFUSES TO ASSIST WITH STOP BANKS.
Notification that the Main Highways Board could not make any subsidy available towards the cost of constructing stop-banks and the raising of the Foxion-Shannon Road, as requested recently, was" received at last meeting of the Man&watu County Council. Commenting on the'matter, the chairman (Or. Berber), said it looked as if 'the Main Highways Board were shirking their responsibilities. This work was badly needed for, when Hood water from the Manawatu River canu over the bank, the Wirokino road was soon blocked for traffic. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman to pursue further.
