SHANNON DEFEAT OTAKI. The above school teams met on the Shannon Domain cm Saturday morning when Shannon decisively defeat ed°the visitors by 32 points to nil. Mc* Ewen was the chief scorer for the wii.n-jrs, his opponents who appeared to be on the "light side, being qmU unable to stop him when he had the balL •*,<<•' 'Otaki. bustled Shannon m the nrsc few minutes but Holdcn cleared with a line kick. They were soon on tho defensive again, but the forwards made a good advance, taking the ball well down. MeEwen kicked over ths line, but failed to reach it in time. Jones and MeEwen in a duel effort just failed to score. Playing in midfield Saxon showed himself good on defence. From here the forwards made a rush and Holden went over. No goal. Following a line out Mason led a quick advance, but Otaki defended well. Jones looked like scoring, but he hung on too long and was grassed. Then Holder, went over. Pieard with a good kick just: missed. I. East on led an advance, but Jacob pullol it up. A good passing rush by Satherley, Mason and L Easton saw Holden over again. Unconverted. A Shannon forward rush ended :n_ Mason going over. Unconverted. Pieard and Jones were doing good,work when half time s.muded. On resumirg Shannon, thanks io Mason had Otaki on the defensive, but this was short lived as the latter^ put on a spurt and carried play up field. After a Shannon with a forward ruslr Satherley cut in nicely, almost reaching the line when he sent the bail to MeEwen who scored. Satherley converting. From now on the visitors were en "the defensive, Shannon scoring tries of which MeEwen was responsible for four and Satherley one. The game ended Shannon 32, Otaki nil: The Shannon boys showed a big improvement on previous games and if they maintain the standard of Saturday's play, they will have to be reckoned with before the competitioncloses. Mr T. Kohilra had charge of '.thegame.
