SILK STOCKINGS
Wash your stockings before they are worn; 'it tightens the texture and makes them wear better. It also takes off some of that shiny look that makes many artificial silk stockings appear cheap. Stockings must be washed often as perspiration rots silk. Use soap flakes and see that the water is not too hot. To avoid puckering or drag, darn your stockings in the French way. Leave long loops at the begin- . ning of each line,’afterwards cutting them off so that a fringe about l-Bin. is left. When putting on stockinng that do not end in a reinforced band double a few inches under round the top where the suspender grips.
