GARDEN PARTY AND BABY SHOW.
TO-MORROW AFTERNOON. To-morrow afternoon a garden party and Baby Show will be held at Otaura —Mr Woods' grounds. The function, Avhieh is being held in aid of the Shannon branch of the Plunket Society, should prove a very pleasant outing to all who attend, as there will be plenty to interest them. The main attraction will be the baby show, in which there will be three classes, viz., under 6 months, 12 months, and 18 months, prizes being awarded to the best boy and girl in each class; also prizes donated by Mr J. Linklater/M.P., for the champion boy and girl of the show. Other competitions that will arouse a lot of interest are those for the best decorated go-cart, dolls' pram and tricycle. There will be plenty of races for the children, also jompetitions- for adults. Afternoon tea" will be procurable on the ground, and there will be ice cream, fruit salad and produce stalls. The committee have been working hard for •some time to ensure the gathering being a success, so it is hoped that the mothers and fathers of Shannon will give them their support and thus show that they appreciate the good work they are doing in the worthy movement that undoubtedly affects the wellbeing of the little ones. , In addition to the prizes mentioned above to be awarded in the baby show classes, a special prize ■of a cot rug has been generously donated by the Mayoress (Mrs E. Butt) for the best babv under three months, while Mrs C Cronquest, has donated' a child's suit for boy two years and under. Should the weather not be favourable for holding the Show at Otaura, it will be held in the Parish Hall.
