ESTIMATE FOR ASPHALTING.

MAIN HIGHWAY THROUGH SHANNON. At the 'Shannon Borough Council meeting on Tuesday evening the specifications and/ estimate for laying down in Union asphalt the main thoroughfare in the Borough under the penetration method was received from Mr C. Skitrop, C.E., who is consulting engineer to Ellis and Co., Ltd., agents for "Union" asphalt. The estimate provides for 129 chains of asphalting, which will include 94 chains along the main road from boundary to boundary, the road to be asphalted from kerb to kerb in the business portion, and 35 chains in Sheehan Street. The estimated cost of this work was shown as £8484.

The Council decided to deal with the matter at a later date, further in-formation-to be obtained iu the meantime.
