ENTRIES CLOSE TO-DAY.

(Support for the dairy cattle clas«B at the Levin Show, to be held on January 29th and 30th, should be liberal as the result of a season very favourable to farming on this coast. In the daiiy cattle division there are ten .classes, as follows:—Dairy cow, in imilk, to be judged on points as a dairy cow; dairy cow, in milk, calved since 1925, to be judged on points as a cow; ■ two-year-old dairy heifer in milk; crossbred heifer, dry, between 12 and •;nd 20 months; two crossbred dairy heifers, between 12 and 20 months; crossbred dairy heifer dry, 'between 12 and 20 months, for exhibitors wlu have never won a prize at any show; cross-bred dairy 'heifer calved since July Ist, 1928, conditions a,? in the pre vio'ns class; dairy heifer calved between July Ist and October 31, 1928, ;lmnd-fedj two dairy heifers, calve! during same period, hand-fed; and dairy heifer calf, calved since July Ist, 1928, reared by child under 15 years of age. All except the two maiden classes will count in the competi-tion-for the £5 trophy donated by Mr H. J. Lancaster for most points iu' jthis division. The trophy has to be won three times, not necessarily in succession, before becoming the property of an exhibitor. Last year, when it was first competed for, it went to Mrs 1. W. Spiers. At the • forthcoming show the winner of the .points prize will also receive the. Dominion special of £2, 2s. Class prizes range from £1 10s to £2 10s for first, with £1 for second. Entries for all classes except dogs close with the secretary, Mr F. Nicholson, P.O. Box 32, Levin, to-day.
