RACING AT FOXTON
The altered dates, as compared with last year's meeting, have worked mue:i improvement in the list of acceptance, : iboth in respect of class and from a numerical point of view and there is every, indication that, given fine weather,'there will be a substantial increase in the attendance also. Following is the. programme:
POBOUTAWHAO HUBDLES, of 140 sovs,; 13 furlongs. V
The Opening event thinned down considerably on acceptance day, leaving only eight to go to the post. On paper, it looks like Hymestrason boing first to the judge, but tooth- Panorama and Atereria are coming to form also, and they may be suited better with the course. Age may have made an imDrovement in Asleep and this is where* the surprise is likely to come from. Kash's second, to Novar at 1 Otaki is not'supported by any later outings and,, of course, there is no guide as to whether that was only a "flash in'the'pan." If he is as fit " as he was on the opening day of the Maori fixture he will' certainly be 'worth support. The improver 13 De--1 luge, but he may' not be quite ready yet and the form, of the remainingpair, Roburant and Arkansas is not good enough to suggest them as winners. When the machine closes the favoured pair will probable be: -

IThis event has drawn a poor field with Argue as topweight. He has shown very little promise of late and appears to 'be off colour. Second Thought is' a greatly improved runner and on form he should be elected favourite. White Kinglet was a winner at Marton and that was a.good start for the season. - First Ruler also scored at Marten, and was a consistent performer at Awapuni. This ruaaer, with Second Thought,, will make the most appeal. Outside of those mentioned, Atholspear has best recommendations, a second and third at Wairarapa. Boval Black was third m the Trial "Plate at Marton. It looks like the winner coming from Second Thought First Rale?.
AWAHOU HACK, of 120 sovs.; 7 furlongs.
The 'best performed runner is undoubtedly Gold Cure, but' want of a race may have an effect. The exhurdler,'Mister Gamp will probably need a refresher also. The most re cent winner,is Volplane, but he is an irregular sort, while Shining Star has gone off since his double win at Awapuni, a while back. Havering has just emerged from maiden class and Balloon is a possibility on his form at the Manawatu meeting. Bissac will not be long :ow, while a win for Teremoan* is well overdue. The favourite will probably be found among Volplane Bissac Gold Cur©.
ANNIVEESARY HANDICAP, of
The second-leg bears a very open aspect, though it has only seven runners. With 8.9 Miss Pat finished half a length in front of Callanmore 7.G at Marton, while on, the open day she scored a 2 lengths win from Keddar. At' the ' weights allotted Miss Pat and Callanmore will make it an interesting race, but the former should win with ■the apprentice allowance on her own course, Epistle is now in winning vein and her record during the holiday racing will find plenty of support for the Polydamon mare. After her clear cut win at Wanganui, Helotis appears to be unlucky in not scoring since. This' course, however, will be in her favour to-morrow. Millais ran a good race at Waipukurau under 3.11 and in at 7.3., will not want for friends. Monaghan turns, up when there is a good price, while Borsalene, though out of class, wins when little expected. It should be a good race, with a fine finish and a likely pair to be in it are Miss Pat Millais. ( MAEOTIEI HACK, of 120 sovs.;
Austerity 8 3 This field is more or less a collection of maiden performers. There is very little form for public speculation, but the best recommendations appear to be held by

ances, Henna will be a red hot favourite in the concluding event and she should win with any luck. Wikhrnes ? struck form at this mec-tinar last yerr. but can never be depended upon, on account of a bleeding trouble. Decoy Bird will win some day and his second to Maui at Wairarapa makes him appear nearly ready. If Vigilance was at her best, she would be hard to dispose of, while Lin Arlington is good one in. his own class. The recovering dividend may be found in Henna Decoy Bird. Riding Engagements. ' ' K.
