TENNIS SEASON OPENS.
The Shannon Tennis Club opened Wa .season on Saturday afternoon in the presence of a large attendance of members and their friends, there being also representatives'-present from the Mangaore, Levin Wesley,*Ohau and Otaki Clubs. The day was beautifully fine and a most pieasant aifternoon was spent, during which the ladies dispensed afternoon tea. The president, Mr E. T. Moody, after extending a hearty welcome to all present, stated that, owing to a large number of members having left the district, it would be necessary to make evary effort to increase the membership of the Club. During the season the committee would endeavour to raise funds and he requested that •lUMnbers assist them as much as possible. After wishing all an enjoyable afternoon's sport he called on Mrs T. Moynihan to play the first ball over the net! This being done he then declared the season opea. J.i the evening a dance was hold in the Paiish ilall, which was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by those present.
