MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
A SHORT SITTING. The monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Levin yesterday was 'a -brief one, the list only comprising undefended civil cases, a claim for rent and possession, and judgment summonses. Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., gave judgment for the plaintiffs for the amounts named in the following undefended cases: —Drapery and General Importing Company, Ltd., v. G. McDonald, £lO 10s Id, costs £2 14s; Jhing Kwong v. Joe Sue Ning, £5 10s fid, costs £1 18s fid; same v. Ekenehi Wirihana, £2 8s sd, costs £1 9s 6d, Allmand’s, Ltd., v. E. B. Russell, £4. 18s lOd, costs £1 14s 6d; E. E. Whyman v. Whioi Kerehorna, £3 10s, costs £1 12s fid; E. A. H. George v. Percy Moss, £1 13s 6d, costs 8s; William Henry Taylor v. Charles William Norman, costs only 16s; 11. Murray and C. L. Crowley v. Harold North, £4 10s, costs £1 7s fid; John Camerou v. Robert Lloyd Martin, £94 5s 3d, costa £5 lls. Orders were made on judgment summonses as follows: —A. P. Barnett to pay A. Dempsey £3 13s'fid on or before October 18th, in default four days; Dick Barnett to pay W. Monks £4 7s’6d on or before October 18th, in default five days. No orders were made in the cases of Nicol Bros. v. H. Hartley (£26 9s 4d) and T. and A. M. Terry v. Para Matakatea (£4 15s).
On a claim by Bessie Smith for rent and possession of a shop and dwelling used as a laundry by Sun Lee, judgment was given for £47 10s arrears of rent, with costs £4 6s 6d, anti an order was made for possession on or before October 18th.
