Morris will be in' attendance at the Napier Park meeting and will pilot Kaiti, Alusogne and Comical. Toxeuma at Napier. By accounting for Rosecrea at the recent Wellington meeting, Toxeuma was the subject of a good deal of publicity, critics declaring that the Arrowsmith gelding would have a very successful three-year-old career. He is due to have his first race of the season in the County Hack Handicap at Napier Park to-morrow and if he survives that field, should not be long in getting above the hack class. Placed in Five Starts. A review of Lieut. Bill’s recent form in hurdle events makes him out a very unlucky runner in that ho meets, on most occasions, two " better than himself.' In his last five starts, third money has come to him on four occasions, while at Dannevirke he went one better into second position. While he is perhaps paying his way, it is a big disappointment for his connections who expect him to improve in each outing. He is due to line up in the Greenmeadows Hurdles at Napier to-morrow, where he should do better than a third. Avondale Cup Candidate. That Star Stranger was not expected to make a showing in the open sprints at Wanganui was evidenced in the order of public opinion as on each occasion he was allowed to go out at long odds. He will be a starter In the Avondale Cup to-morrow over a distance of one mile and a-lialf and if the going is any way to his liking, the Martian gelding will find plenty of support in that event. He is reported to be shaping very well in Lis work on the track.- - t Better’ this Season. Shining Star, who was only able to beat a maiden field last season, has apparently improved to a large extent. At the Manawatu Hunt meeting on Wednesday, the Star Stream chestnut easily accounted for the Aokautere Hack field and started again in the concluding event to win unexpectedly by a narrow margin. With all due respect to his double victory he cannot be expected to go with N.Z. Cup field with whom, he is nominated to appear, as his limit is a mile at his best. Form (at Napier. i The following runners are expected to run prominently in their respective engagements at Napier Park to-mor-row: Trial Handicap: Belgian Queen, Delude and Mount Shannon.
