WATER SUPPLY TO FOXTONROAD.

PETITION BEFORE COUNTY COUNCIL. „ A petition was received by tire.Hon**, whenua County Council on Saturday, from nine ratepayers of the Wiroftiuo riding, asking for the formation of a special rating area for the" purpose of extending a high pressure water supplySfrom the Heatherlea Corner to their properties situated on or near the Levin Foxtou Road. They had been in negotiation with the Levin Borough* Council in respect to the proposal, and had been advised that it had been estimated that the sum of £875 would be required to supply a 'service sufficient for their requirements. They realised that it was possible that some arrangement might have to be made in respect to a contribution, towards the annual loan charges in regard to the main which had been installed to the Heatherlea Corner and for which a special rating area already existed. In the 1 meantime, however, they desired that application should be made to the Local Government Loans Board for consent to steps being taken to raise a loan for the proposed extension if the'estimate already supplied was satisfactory to the Council. Should there be other considerations which the Council might desire to submit, they would be prepared to discuss the proposal with a committee of the Council if thought necessary. The chairman stated that the land affected comprised about 300 acres. He suggested that the matter be referred to a committee consisting of the councillors for the Wirokino riding. There would have to be a conference in regard to the estimate. The proposal was to join on to a main installed by a lean already in and this main could not be used without some allowance being made to those who had put it in.

Cr. Kilsby said it appeared that the ; extension would cover about two miles." On the motion of the chairman, the matter was referred to the councillors for the Wirokino riding, together with the engineer, with-%isti uctions to report to the Council.
