WEDDING BELLS.
WARD—SWINDLEHURST. A very pretty wedding was solemnised in the Shannon Methodist Church on Wednesday by Rev. S. H. D. Peryman, when Elsie, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Swindlehurst, of Buckley, waß married to Cave, second N son of the late Mr Ward, of Ihakara. The bride, who was given, away by her father, looked charming in shell pink lace ovei; a cream silk dress with the usual veil and orange blossoms, and was supported by her sisters Evelyn, in a coral pink crepe de chine frock daintily trimmed with gold lace, and Margaret in a mauve taffeta frock with silver lace, while Alexa Sinclair, niece of the bride, was flower-girl, wearing a pale green taffeta over cream lace. Mr James Ward, brother of the; bridegroom, acted as best man. After the ceremony the company ad-
journed to Mr Swindlehurst’s home in Buckley, where a reception was held, and at which nearly seventy guests were present. The usual toasts were duly honoured. The bride’s mother, who received the , guests* wore a dress of figured crepe de chine trimmed with fawn; Mrs Ryrie, navy crep<s de chine; Mrs Bowler, navy silk; Mrs Bowker a brown gabardine coat frock; Mrs Armes, navy crepe de chine, trimmed floral; Mrs South, grey georgette; Mrs J. Swindlehurst, jun., light fawn crepe de chine; Mrs W. Swindlehurst, black satin trimmed with cream lace; Mrs Sinclair, biscuit crepe de chine; Mrs Wiggins, light brown crepe de chine, trimmed floral; Mrs McKenzie, saxe blue bodice and checked skirt; Mrs A. Ward, shell < pink crepe de chine; Mrs Brown, navy coat frock; Miss Ward, pink crepe de chine trimmed cream'lace; Miss M. H. Bowker, dark brown brocade; Miss R. Bowker, rose pink crepe de chine; Miss Bowler, apricot floral voile; Miss Roberts, white floral voile, trimmed with red. ' "
The presents received were numerous and costly. After the reception Mr and Mrs Ward left for the Wairarapa, where the honeymoon will be spent. In the evening a dance was held in the Ihakara Hall and dancing was kept up till .well into “the wee sma’ ’oors beyont the twal. ’ ’
