SPEED CARNIVAL ON MONDAY.

NOTABLE MOTORISTS TO RACE IN LEVIN. Twenty-five of the Dominion's, leading motor evelists are entered for the various events at the Otaki Club's lm-e meeting to be held on the Levin Racecourse on Monday (Loxing Day). Some thrilling riding is expected, espee'ally in view oz the nice ting of such champions as Percy Coleman, Spencer Strattmi, 11. Mq'ller. D. Managh, and T. Morgan. A. large attendance is expected from all parts of the coast, motor racing having a strong hold of the holiday-making, public at the present time. The various events have filled as follows: „. . Five-Mile Novice Handicap.—Eight entries. / Parker Cup, ten miles. —Twenty five entrants. Rangiuru Lightweight Handicap, eight miles. —Twelve entrants. Tasman Handicap, ten miles. —Sixteen entrants. Otaki Cup Blue Riband, twelve miles. —Twenty-live entrants. . Citizens' Handicap, ten miles. — Twenty-five entrants. There is in addition a Consolation Handicap and two push cycle races. : It will therefore he evident that a full afternoon's sport will lie provided and the pleasant surroundings of the Levin Race-course should a timet ■many picnic parties with the addpd interest of the motor idicing. COMMITTEE MAKES ARRANGEMENTS.

A meeting of members of the Otaki Motor Club was held at the Otaki Cycle Works, Mr. A. W. Broadway presiding. Among those present were Messrs L. S. Oannichael and J. Ry'dei. of Levin, while an apology for absence was received from Mr. E. Jones.

• It was decided that the tender of the Otaki Band (£7) be accepted, and tvolved to ask Mr. Field, M.P., to present the trophies won during the day, failing Mr. Field being unable to do so to ask that Mr. T. Hobson (Mayor) to officiate.

Arrangements relative to the sports meeting were made, and it was considered that prospects for the day were verv bright. Gate-keepers, etc., were appointed, and other matters given consideration.
