METHODIST CONCERT.
There was a large gathering present at the Parish Mail on Wednesday evening, when a splendid programme, arranged under the auspices of the Mothoi dist Church workers, was presented I Wonderful stage arrangements, forming two entrances, and giving the appear- ( ance of an up-to-date room, and footj lights ingeniously arranged, were deserving of special mention and those responsible for the great amount of work entailed are to be highly compliI mented. '.I he programme opened with J a pianoforte solo nicely played by Miss ' M. Inglev. which was followed by the 1 appearance of the Fairy Queen and her two tinv maids, with a dainty little 'speech of thanks and a wish that the audience might have a happy evening. Then came seven boys and girls bearing a sard which wen all displayed, spelled "welcome." The same children appeared again at the close of the programme their letters .this time spelling "good-bye." Both times each child ha*d a small verse to recite and all spoke out well and were word perfect. In fact, "power to memorise" featured throughout the programme. Recitations, dialogues, etc., were all almost word perfect, Misses Swindlehurst having particularly lengthy passages in their dialogue, which was also excellently acted. AH the adult vocalists were' in good voice and encores were the order of the evening. The programme continued as follows: —Song, Miss Aim; recitation, Doris Trcmewan; song, Mrs Cronquest; playette, "The Hat Shop," Junior Girls; song, Mrs Riches; impromptu speech, Mr L. Milner; song, Mrs Bishop; dialogue, Misses E. and E. Swindlehurst; song, Mr LengWard; character Mr Riches; song, Mr Cronquest; sketch, "Aunt Jemima's Visit," Misses E. and V. Quarrie M. and D. Inglev, and Messrs .1. Riches, E. Barber, and I. McLachlan. j A good night wish from the Fairy Queen and her maids completed a-most enjoyable programme. Supper was afterwards provided for the performers. .
