GOLF TOURNEY.

SUCCESS OF SHANNON PLAYER. At the Manawatu Golf Club's tourney H. Blyth, a member of the Shannon Golf Club, won the medal match on Wednesday, and followed this performance up yesterday by defeating that <r o od player A. E. Ekstedt (Manawatu) hi the second round of the championship. The latter has held the Club Championship for a number of years and carries a golfing reputation. Referring to the game the Manawatu Times states.— Blyth's victory over Ekstedt was all the more meritorious in view of the fact that lie had to concede one hole (the 12th) through losing his ball. In driving for "Lagoon Hill" his shot went over the green and a diligent search failed to bring the ball to light. It was a coincidence that almost the same thing should happen to him when driving for the 13th (Ti Ti's). His ball went right over the-willows and could not be found. He decided, however, to go back to the tee and start again. Bv this time the lost ball had been discoVered, but Blyth was not allowed to carry on with it. He had to follow up his'second tee shot and lost the hole. The first two greens, were taken by Ekstedt who also secured the 4th after the third had been halved. By the time the Bth had been reached, however, Blyth had squared the game. | Then he set" out to lead his opponent. Ekstedt being 2 down when Land's End was holed out. With Blyth's misfortune at the 12th and 13th, the players were again square. The. 14th was halved, Blyth took the 15th and 16th, lost the 17th and halved the 18th.
