RUGBY EMERGENCIES.
THE~~LIST ANNOUNCED. SOUTH AFRICAN ARRANGEMENTS " WELLINGTON, This Day. At a meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union last night, the chairman of the Selection Committee (Mr E. MeKer.zie) reported that the selectors had nominated players to fill any vacancies that may occur in the team for South Africa. The emergencies were announced as follows: — Backs; Heazlewood, Carleton, Stringfellow, Snodgrass", Stewart (Otago), Holden. I Forwards. —Porter, Coulston, Conrad; A. Knight, Godfrey, Frietas, Mafslin, Bird. The Unions are being asked to forward nominations for the position of manager of the team by November 30, as the Management Committee proposes to make the appointment early in December. The selection of captain and viee-cap-tain was deferred until the medical . examination of the selected players takes place. Mr S. Dean stated that he was proceeding shortly to Honolulu on a health trip and Mr Kitto was appointed vicechairman pro. tern.
