CHILDREN'S PAPER FROCK DANCE.
The paper frock dance for the children, organised by the ladies of Yen. Bede's Guild, which was held in the Braids ’ Hall on Friday evening, drew a good attendance of adults and children, many of the latter wearing, paper costumes, some of which were cleverly dc.,igned, making the judges’ task a difficult one in deciding their awards. The hall had been nrcttily decorated and the changing coloured lights, under the supervision of Mr Sunley, together with the pretty frocks worn by the children, presented a gay effect. The dance opened Avitli the , Grand March, led by the Twin Pink Fairies, June Roach and Joan Bovis, in which aft the little ones took part. This was followed by square and round dances, the little ones having a merry time until (~30 p.m., when supper was served. At. an interval during the dance Mr Thurston gave an exhibition of conjuring, his cleverness mystifying the children, Mid to show their appreciation they gave him three hearty cheers. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr .). T. Bovis, who in his usual happy mai-ner, kept things going with a swing. The music for the children's dances was supplied by Mrs C. Easton, the supper arrangements being in charge of members of the Ladies' Guild. The prizes for the prettiest costume for !toy and ,girl over nine years of age was won 'by Willie Radford (Pierrot), ,ad Phyllis Patton (Pierrette); for boy uul girl under nine years, Edgar Bass (Penguin), and Valerie Young (Miss Springtime).
