FOXTON RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING.

FOXTON, August 9. The annual meeting of the Foxton Racing Club was held last evening, presided over by Mr J. R. Whyte (president). There was a good attendance of SO members. The receipts for the year totalled £5073, which was £877 le&s than the receipts for the previous year, due, mainly, to (he shrinkage in the totalisator returns, the gross u'ecipts being £2978 as against £3672 fur the year ending June 30, 1926 —a drop of practically £7OO. The president also took the opportunity of thanking Mrs Austin-Johnston for her generous donation of a silver cup at ihe last meeting. A word of praise was aeci'ided' the caretaker (Mr Simpson) for the excellent condition of the course. The report and balance sheet were i then adopted.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr F. Robinson; proficient, -Mr \V. E. Barber; vice-presi-dents, Messrs R. Bryant, H. Coley, W. Jewell and C. Robinson; stewards, Messrs 11. Robinson, S. Austin, C. A. Pearson, 8. Jackson; auditor, Mr A. Eraser. VOTE OF CONGRATULATION. It was decided to forward a letter of congratulation to Mr A. Wright, the trainer of Nukumai, on the fine performance of that l'ors? at the Wellington meeting. MINISTER AND DATES COMMITTEE. , Mr Jewell referred to the fact that the Minister of Internal Affairs had ever-ridden the decision of the Dates Committee with regard to the allocation of certain dates to the Waikato Club, which lie considered was not a right 'hing. It was decided that the Foxton Racing fiub is of the opinion that the allocation of racing dates shoull remain with Ihe New Zealand Racing Conference and that a copy of the resolution be forwarded to the conference.

A vote of thanks was accorded the delegates to the conference Messrs G. F. Smith, E. Goodman, C. Prilchard and M. Robinson were elected new members.

In conclusion the retiring president (Mr Whyte) thanked members for their ro-operation during his teim of office and extended a welcome to Mr Barber lo ihe chair. Mr Barber suitably replied.
