WEDDING.

GARDNER—FREE.

A popular wedding took place in St. Mary's Anglican Church,;, Levin, on Friday, when Miss Phyllis Elizabeth Free, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. S. Free, or Levin, was married to Mr Eric Palethorpe Gardner, of Shannon, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. J. C. Davies before a very large congregation. The bride looked Charming in ivory crepe de chine with an overdress of radium lace, and veil, and she carried a bouquet of maidenhair fern and orange blossoms, with tint of heather. She was attended by five bridesmaids. Miss Madeline Bignall (chief) Avore emerald green crepe-de-chine, Avith hat to match; Misses Gavciidoline and Lilian Free (sisters of the bride) Avere dressed in crepe-de-chine of cyclamen shade, Avith hats to match, and carried a bouquet and basket of fhrwers; Misses Hazel and May Gardner (sisters of the bridegroom) Avere attired in pink crepe-de-chine, with .hats to match. Mr Samuel Free (Upper Hutt), brother of the bride, Avas best man; and Mr Allen Gardner, brother of the bridegroom, Avas- groomsman. They Avere dressed, like the bridegroom, in smart navy bine suits, and Avore buttonholes of orange blossom. The bride Avas given aAvay by her father; and the veil and orange blossoms Avhich she Avore Avere a family heirloom, Avhich has figured in many Aveddings. ' -'After the service the guests, .to the number of about 100, assembled in the Weraroa Church Hall, Avhere the Avedding breakfast was held. Among those present Avere the Mayoress (Mrs T. Hobson), Rev. J. C. Davies, and Mr and Mrs T. F. Gibson, of Levin; Mr and Mrs Free, of Wellington, grandparents of the bride;' Mrs Butts, of Shannon, aunt of the bride; Mrs and Miss Blair, aunt and cousin of the bridegroom; Mrs Hadfield, Avho presented the bouquet; accompanied by Miss Hadfield; and many other visitors, from Wellington, Shannon and LeA'in. The toast of the parents .of the bride and bridegroom /was proposed by the Rev. Mr Davies; and that of the bride and bridegroom by. Mr T. F. Gibson. Many valuable and useful presents were received by the happy couple, Avho left by the 4 p.m. train for Auckland on their honeymoon. The bride travelled in a Avine-coloured Avith hat to match.

The bride's mother wore a coat frock of plum colour, and a black crepe hat. The mother of the bridegroom was attired in a coat frock of biscuit colour, with black hat. The dresses of the bride and bridesmaids had been selected and made by the bride's mother, and were much admired.

On their return, Mr and Mrs Gardner will reside at Weraroa.
