CYCLISTS' TOURING CLUB.

— —:—«. . An interesting event in Wellington last week was the formation,*'after a s lapse of a great many years, of the Cyclists' Touring Club. Few people realise, perhaps, the immense hold which , 'cycling has obtained in New Zealand. • not onTy as a sport, but as a recreation, and cyclists, generally, need the protection afforded them by such an organisation as the Cyclists' Touring Club. It is not too much to say, in fact, that cycling in New Zealand ha. never been so popular as it is at the '. present time. The C/T.C., of course, is well-known in the United ' and is the fortunate possessor of con--1 siderable financial resources. Its principal objects are the defence'of cyclists' i rights on the roads, with free Itopl assistance whenever necessary, the Yorma- , tion throughout the country of Dis- ' trict Associations, whose'members meet : at frequent intervals for cycling runs — i and, in the off season, lectures, concerts, i dances, and so on —the production or • accurate road maps, bicycle insurance, the testing of inventions i appertaining to the bicycle, and other matters of 'in- , terest to cyclists generally. The club • publishes an excellent monthly magafree to all members, and strenuously resists any attempted legislation affect- ', ing the privileges of cyclists. In this 'connection, it has done an immense amount of good in older countries, and will no doubt act in a similar capacity "n New Zealand, should occasion arise It is hoped that District Associations or clubs will be formed throughout New Zealand, and the lion, secretary iin Wellington, Mr Alfred E. Milne, will te pleased to give any information to anvone interested. His address is G.P.O. Box 1490, Wellington.
