HALL SHIELD TO WERAROA. SHANNON SUCCUMBS TO BULL'S BOWLING. The final of the district cricket competition was played on Saturday, whea Wovaroa and Shannon met to decide who should hold the Hall Shield for the next twelve months. The game, although exciting at time;*, was not good cricket. Shannon won the toss and decidod to bat, C. Hunt and Boaeh opening. The latter never looked like making a score and was clean bowled by Bull after adding three. I'ickard joined Hunt, but was boivled before niakin«* a score. C. Hunt was never going well and when his score was six he fe!! a Hetim to Bull. Newth was the only mm to reach double figures. He seemed quite at home : but in attempting to run a short one he was thrown out bv Bull. The rest .of the team was quickly disposed of, Bull taking eight wickets for 24 runs, and doing the hat trick. Wallace bowled well, for one wicket, but he was decidedly unlucky. The innings closed for 64., and "Mr Bve" mao.e the tidy score of 27„ equalling O'Connor's total in the Weraroa innings. Bull and Wallace opened for Weraioa. These two young cricketers have played an important part this season for'the Weraroa Club: but when Bull's score was showing one he was- caught at leg off Bell. Wallace batted well for his small score, being content to* hold his wicket no; but he was run out. Watts and Young were quickly disposed of, and Weraroa's chance did not look bright, but O'Connor's score of 27 was the main factor in winning the game. He went out l.b.w. whea the score stood at 45.
