WEDDING.
SMALL—NEWMAN. A pretty wedding wa-j eelebrated in St. Mary's Church, Levin, yesterday afternoon, when Miss Thelma Newman, daughter of Mrs Burt and step-daugh-ter of Mr K. Burt, of Bartholomew road, was married to Mr S. Small, of Shannon. Rev. J. 0. Da vies officiated, in the presence of a large congregation, smd the service was choral, Mr Hayfi'ld being at the organ. The bride looked charming in a d.ess of crean. brocaded crepe-de-chine and a veil which had been specially worked for her by her sister, Mrs Small, of Martin borough. She also wore the customary orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of pink roses and white asters and Michaelmas daisies, and maidenhaii fern. The bridesmaids wevi Miss SmalV'of Shannon (chief), sister of the bridegroom; Miss Joy Newman, sister of the bride and little Miss Phyllis Burt, step-sister of the bride, as flower girl. The chief bridesmaid wore a frock of pink crepe-de-chine trimmed with silver lace, with coronet to match, and carried a bouquet of pink lilies Miss Newman was attired in lemon crepe-do-chine, and carried a bouquet cf white and cream dahlias. The kittle flower-girl wor? a dress of pale blue trepe-de-chine, with coronet to match, and carried a b isket of flow ers. ' Mrs Burt (mother of the bride) carried a bouquet of red daisies and Mrs Small (mother of the bridegroom) pink astars and maidenhair fern. The bouquets were the work of Mrs Nye, of Levin. Mr Seymour Small, of Foxton, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. The bride's mother wore a navy blue costume with hat to match, and* the tiother of the bridegroom was attired in a frock of navy blue with maroon trimmings and | hat to match.
After the ceremony a reception was held in the Druids' Hall, where the wedding breakfast was served, and the usual toasts were honoured. The health cf the bride was jroposed by Mr A. Dempsey, her late employer, who spoke in high terms of h<jr services and said he had known her mother an 1 ftepfather for many yiaars. The happy couple left, for the North by motor car for their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a navy blue costume with fawn hat. Many valuable presents were received, testifying to the esteem ixi which the parties ar-j held.
Among the guests were Mr and Mrs Jones, of the People's Palace, Welling ton, uncle and aunt of the bride; Mr and Mrs Smithson, of Wellington; Mr Chapman, of Featherston; and Mra Hewitt, of Koputaroa. The cake was made by the bride's mother. ;. , _ i^Jia
