EX-LABOUR MEMBER LOSES SEAT LONDON, March 29. The Southwark by-election caused by the. resignation of Dr. L. Hayden Guest; who re-contested the seat as an Jndepc"ndent 3 ;Constitutionalist, resulted; Strauss (Liberal)"' 7334, Isaacs (Labour) 6167, driest 3215. The result" is hailed as further evidence of the.turn of the tide in favour of Liberalism, but personal considerations loomed largely in the contest, a< Mr Strauss has big business'interests in Southwark. He previously represented the district in Parliament; for thirteen years. Huge crowds waited to hear the declaration, and Betty Baldwin drove a motor car for Dr. Hayden Guest. ' .
