A FRIENDLY GAME When the disappointing news, that Manawatu were unable to fulfil their engagement with Horowhenua, reached Levin shortly before the appointed time for the commencement of the game set down for Saturday between these two unions, the local cricket authorities made every effort to advise those members of the Horowhenua team who were compelled to travel from outside towns. However, as „%vas only to be expected at that hour of the day, the} failed to get word through, for several were already on their way to Levin. Not to be denied of a day’s sport, several enthusiasts quickly collected a number of locnl cricketers in addition to the rep. players, sufficient in all to form two teams, the result being a very enioyable game. Some bright cricket was witnessed during the day, particularly with the bat.
