WARNING TO MOTORISTS.

NOT TO HINDEITItOADING OPERATIONS. OTHERWISE PROCEEDINGS WILL FOLLOW. A recommendation was received by the Horowhenua County Council from its Works Committee, on Saturday, that the Engineer be instructed and authorised to take legal proceedings against any persons driving vehicles or the Main Highway and refusing to stop during bitumen!-spraying operations/. „ . , ~ , The chairman stated that the roaamaking staff had had very great trouble indeed hilo the plant was working at Waikanae. People drove cars on tt roads that had been sprayed; no op portunity was given to roll such roads at the time, with the result that the work had been much more costly than it should have been and the County had not secured the same satisfactory ■job. It was felt that if. the users ot motor cars would bear with the Coun cil in this matter, much better road., would be obtained. A report had been made by some of the staff that one .motorist drove on to the uncompleted road, used obscene language, ana gei. erally made a beast of himself It was thought that if this sort of thing wa. going to happen, it would be necessary to take some further steps than hau been taken so far—hence the -recommendation of the Works Committee. The recommendation was adopted.
