HOROWHBNXJA DISTRICT. POWER BOARD ENGINEER'S REPORT. The following report on the work of the month was presented to the Horowhenua Electric Power Board by the engineer (Mr. .J. A. Smith), at the meeting on Tuesday:— No. 1 gang have run six service lines, fitted and erected 62 poles, and run 478 chains of wire; have built one outdoor sub-station, erected four earth guards, and two street lamps. No. 2 gang have mn 23 service lines and 51 chains of wire; have made alterations to circuits in Weraroa to enable that portion of the town to be fed from the new outdoor sub-station in Mabel street, and general maintenance, and completed the line to the County crusher plant. No. 3 gang have run four service lines, general maintenance, and. attended to main sub-station, etc. Fitters have run eight service lines, :noved and erected sub-station for County crusher, completed and put into .'commission new sub-station in Mabel .street, Weraroa; changed transformers , i I'aekakariki, McKay's, Main Roao', Ps.;aparaumu and Eoslyn road, Levin; :. ic s.x ir,.:-sformcrs and atci.cUd ~x ina'n:cn;mce. L^-.iu.cuicus.--luring :he period 48 new consumers have signed up, including eight ranges, eight waterheaters, one milking and one industrial and one pumping,.,motor. Ten applications have been received for extensions, including two ranges, one water heater, one milking motor., one pumping motor, and two industrial motors. 25 new consumers have been connected up, and 13 extensions to existing installations, including six ranges, two water-heaters, one milking motor and two industrial motors. Ten houses out of a group of 23 railway houses at Paekakariki have been connected up, and the wiring of the station, engine shed, and yards has been started...

General. —The line to the County crusher at Te Horo has been completed and the plant started running this week. Rahui Valley line is under construction and should be completed in about a fortnight. Owing to the increasing load on the Levin main sub-station-, it has been necessary to install former in Mabel street, Weraroa, to relieve the load. This has been put into commission and a large area taken off the main sub, which improves the regulations and voltage. In order to g've a continuous and satisfactory service and keep our overhead system and reticulation up to standard requirements, a start has been made with a general overhaul of all overhead mains, etc., at Paekakariki, and this work will continue till the whole area has been completed.
