SUGGESTIONS AT MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE. Regarding the statutory charge for copies of electoral rolls, some discussion ensued at the conference of the Municipal Association at Palmerston North on Wednesday, on the moving of a remit by the Mayor of Nelson, Mr. W. Lock, that the charge be altered from Is to 2s. It' was pointed out by the mover that the charge of Is had been fixed many years ago, and that, having regard to the present cost of printing, that sum was not bow adequate. The Christchurch delegates thought that the remit should go even further and provide that a charge be allowed not exceeding 50 per cent, of the cost. It was pointed out that the compilation of the Christchurch roll cost £9OO. An amendment on the lines suggested, on being put to the conference was defeated, as also was the motion. ->
