TOO MUCH BEER.
LEADS TO FISTIC ENCOUNTER AND FINE. ' At the Foxton S.M. Court, before Mr. J". L. Stout, S.M., Sid Harris and John O'Reilly were charged by the police with fighting in the bar of Whyte's Hotel on January Ist. Constable Owen said that the two accused came to blows after an argument in the hotel. Asked by the Bench if they had anything to say, O'Reilly said they had had a few beers and an argument followed.
Asked what they were arguing about, witness said, "the beer was talking." The S.M.: I suppose the beer did the fighting too? Witness: "Yes. There was only one blow struck and I stopped that." Both accused pleaded cuilty and were fined £1 with costs 10s.
