NOXIOUS WEEDS.

COUNTY COUNCIL ON THE ALERT. "Who controls the noxious weeds on the banks under the Makerua Drainage Board?" asked Cr. Barber at the meeting of the Horowhenua County Council on Saturday. "The Board, I suppose," replied the engineer (Mr. W. K Anderson). "They would not allow us to interfere with the bank." The chairman: You could refer it to the Stock Department, who deal with noxious weeds. Cr. Barber: You don't want to delay it. They should have been cut now. It was resolved to communicate with the Stock Department reporting the growth of noxious weeds banks adjacent to Messrs Williams's and Spiers's properties on the Kuku Road. Cr. McLeavey.stated that at the last meeting of the Council, the chairman promised him that a patch of blackberry on Buller Road would receive attention. The engineer stated that a man was instructed to cut it. Cr. Kilsby asked the Clerk if he had given any instructions in regard to noxious weeds at Ihakara. The Clerk: Yes. Cr. Kilsby: I don't think they have attended to it. The Clerk: The Inspector wrote to mo and asked for particulars of all the people's property.
