It he requires information on this point all that is necessary is to cross-dress a portion of these three plots with an application of a potash fertiliser With regard to meadow land, it is al.=o of importance to study the use lof nitrogenous fertilisers, as many farmers arc finding that if such ! manures are wisely used on meadows. i a bis- increase in crops of hay is ob- | tained. and it should be pointed out I that this result can be secured with- ! out any deterioration of the herbage provided reasonable care is taken. I It will be seen that in order that the farmer should obtain comprehensive information with regard to the manuring of his land- many years tof investigation-work are involved. It is safe to conclude, however, that ■ almost every season will bring some valuable results to light. Thus each trial carried out should indicate some means whereby a farmer can increase his profits. In these days of low market prices and high labour charges every avenue of securing additional returns must be explored, and by means of practical trials the farmer i-i provided with an interesting and profitable method of increasing the production of his holding.
