HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

NOVEMBER MEETING. All the, members of the Horowhenua County Council were present at Saturday's meeting, when Mr G. A. Monk, the chairman, presided. Koputaroa Floodgate. \ The following resolution was received from the Buckley Drainage Board, "That in consideration of payment of £75 -to- be paid by the Horowhenua 'County Council to the Buckley Drainage Board and in consideration of all the timber of 4 inches or less, now lying at the aite of the old bridge on the Shannon-Foxton road, the Buckley'Drainage Board agrees to take oyer the future upkeep, control, 'and, man-, agement of ihe Koputaroa floodgate provided that there is no liability as to the provision of a bridge over the Koputaroa ■ stream in connection with the • Koputaroa floodgate." - Mr H. Easton waited on the Council with regard to the bridge over the floodgate, which the Drainage Board had now decided they, did not want. It was a legal road to the bridge and he wished to fnow his position in the matter. He was cut off from one section and hal to go through another 'property to get to it. The chairman said the first thing to do was to loiate the position of the road. There seemed a question whether the flood gate was on the roa, dline and they would have to ascertain that, If it was on the road, they should ask the Board to keep it open until the cut was made in the Koputaroa which would remove the necessity for the bridge ' • On the chairman's motion, Cr. Barber and the Engineer were appointed to interview the Buckley Drainage Board (Continued on Page 4). ,
