NUMEROUS MOTOR MISHAPS.
A HOLIDAY CROP. . Several motor vehicles came to grief on the Otaki-Waikanae road on MonA Hudson Sedan capsized and went ovei a steep bank. Further down the road a i Dodge touring ear ran into a steel telegraph pole, and knocked it about three feet out of the perpendicular. It also threw one of the occupants through the wind-screen. Further down a small English car toppled over an eight-foot bank. Fortunately it landed on four AA'heels and was scarcely damaged. ; , Still further down the road there ran, or rather Avobbled, a ear Avhich to use the Avords of an eye-witness, waltzed about for close vn half a mile, and was a danger to everyone," However, its "wild and woolly" career was soon cut short. It turned a few circles, jumped over the, edge of the road, and landed in a ditch. Evidently the old saying that "the devil looks after his OAvn" is true, for the car landed on four wheels (minus one tyre, which was shot oft! en Toute), and the merry occupants Avcre none the worse for their adventure.
Another car, after colliding with a larger one, capsized, while another, in avoiding the scene of the mishap, ran over an embankment and became embedded in the mud. A motor lorry shared a similar fate.
One car, a Dodge, which still remains on the road between Paraparaumu and Paekakariki, collided with a steel telegraph post and snapped it in three places. Naturally, the caT suffered considerable damage. Another car was yesterday brought into Otalci, bearing marks of severe damage.
