“CORNERED.” Never have there been any characters as thrilling as Dr. Jekyl and Mr Hyde, nor as fascinating. The steffy bf this double characterisation has gripped people with a rare tenseness which Robert Louis Stevenson never dreamed ,of accomplishing. There is a picture coming to the Maori,land Theatre on Wednesday under the name of “Cornered,” which is strangely reminiscent of Jekyl and Hyde. It is toe film version of a famous stage play by the same name, which had a two-year run in New York. The girl who lives in Chinatown among plotting crooks, the heiress who is an exact double of this girl, the complication of identity, and toe question of who’s who—all these combine to make a picture of unusual interest. Marie Prevost is toe double character. Other members of the oast are Rockcliffe Fellowes, Raymond Hatton, John Roche and Cissy Fitzgerald. The director is William Beaudine. It is a Warner Bros, classic of toe screen, and is released by Master Pictures.
