RAID ON WELLINGTON BOWLERS.
Wellington Bowling Club was raided by two police officers last evening during the progress of the smoke concert held in honour of the Carlton Club bowlers. The company present indluded the Hon. B. P. Bollard, Minister for Inter nnl Affairs, and member for Raglan, Sfl&tendent W.B McIlveney, the new Chief Commissioner of Police. The festive board was set, and tj guests had taken their seats. ±&o toast of ''The King" had been honoured and a musiefi item announced, when Mr J. -J. Roberts, who w™ doorkeeper siammed the door with cries ot -PoUc'e, police!'' and the lights wero switched the room m darknGTherc was a peremptory demand for admission. The door was opened and i„ matched a couple of uniiorm-u liff t, t nnicklv tricked out the Minister and thT Police Commissioner, whose ffS pseudo officers, Messrs E J. Hill and Bob Orr, had maae up splendidly 'and put on this novel opening turn, which was heartily applauded. .'
